Weekly Program Terms

These terms apply to students continuing into the Weekly Program.

They cover how your ongoing weekly lessons work, including scheduling, payments, reschedules, and lesson credits.

Weekly Program Policies

The Weekly Program is the main ongoing lesson option. It gives students a regular weekly lesson time, a structured learning pathway, and consistent support from week to week.

Reserved Weekly Lesson Times

Weekly Program students have a regular weekly lesson time reserved in the timetable.

Because this time is held each week, weekly lessons are not treated as separate one-off bookings.

A regular lesson time remains reserved while the student stays enrolled and keeps payments up to date.

If a student falls behind on payments, or does not continue after the 4-week intro phase, their lesson time may be released.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

Weekly Program lessons are not usually cancelled individually because the student’s regular lesson time is reserved each week.

The weekly charge stays the same regardless of whether the student attends the lesson.

If a student cannot attend a lesson and gives adequate notice, they may reschedule the lesson.

For a missed lesson to be eligible for rescheduling, notice must be given by 9am on the day of the lesson. This is to ensure I have enough time to offer the spot to other students in need of makeup lessons.

Rescheduled lessons are subject to availability and must fit around the existing timetable.

If notice is given after 9am on the day of the lesson, or the lesson is missed without notice, the lesson is not usually eligible for rescheduling.

Makeup Credits

If a student cannot attend their regular Weekly Program lesson and we cannot find a suitable time to reschedule the lesson, the student may store the lesson as a makeup credit.

To be eligible for a makeup credit, notice must be given by 9am on the day of the lesson.

A makeup credit may be redeemed later for a makeup lesson in addition to their regular weekly lesson.

Makeup lessons cannot replace a regular weekly lesson.

Makeup lessons are subject to availability and must fit around the existing timetable.

Makeup credits are not transferable, refundable, or exchangeable for cash.

Payments

Weekly Program students are billed weekly on their scheduled lesson day.

For Weekly Program lessons, payment is made by:

Stripe Auto Pay
Invoices are sent on lesson days and automatically paid through Stripe. This is the default payment method for Weekly Program students because it keeps payments simple and consistent.

Cash
Cash is paid in person on lesson days. If a cash-paying student can't attend a lesson, the invoice is paid online via Stripe before the next lesson.

Your regular lesson time remains reserved while payments stay up to date.

Late Payments

Payments are due on the scheduled lesson day.

If payment is late, a reminder may be sent by SMS or email.

If payment remains overdue, lessons may be paused and the student’s regular lesson time may be released.

A student’s regular lesson time is only confirmed while payments remain up to date.

Teacher Cancellations

If I need to cancel a scheduled lesson, the student will not be charged for that lesson unless it is rescheduled.

In this situation, the student or parent may choose to either:

1. cancel the lesson with the fee waived, or
2. reschedule the lesson to another available time.

Any rescheduled lesson is subject to availability.

This applies when the lesson is cancelled by the teacher, not when the student is unable to attend.

School and Public Holidays

Weekly lessons and charges continue throughout the year, including during school holidays and public holidays.

The studio closes for a Christmas/New Year break, usually around 2 weeks. Families will be notified of closure dates in advance.

Students are not charged during studio closure dates where lessons are not running.

Planned Breaks

Weekly Program students may pause payments for up to 4 weeks per year while keeping their regular lesson time reserved. This is in addition to the Christmas/New Year closure period.

Planned breaks are intended for holidays or extended absences. They need to be at least two consecutive weeks long, and require at least 2 weeks notice.

If a student needs more than 4 planned weeks away in a year, please discuss this in advance.

If a break is too long, or if there is not enough notice, the lesson time may not be able to be held.

Saturday Evening Lessons

Saturday evening lesson times may be available as regular weekly spots.

Because I often perform on Saturday nights, some Saturday lessons may sometimes be unavailable.

If I need to cancel a Saturday lesson, that lesson can either be cancelled with the fee waived or rescheduled to another available time.

Learning Materials

Learning materials are included as part of the Weekly Program where needed.

Books, worksheets, songs, exercises, and other resources are chosen based on the student’s level and goals.

Included materials are chosen by the teacher and supplied when they are useful for the student’s learning.

Practice and Reinforcement

Students can still make progress without practicing by attending lessons consistently.

Home practice helps students improve faster, but lessons are not based on heavy daily-practice expectations.

A realistic starting goal is 5–10 minutes once per week.

Lesson notes will usually show students what to focus on so there is no guesswork.

The aim is steady progress, not pressure.

General Policies

These policies apply to all students and lesson types.

Communication

SMS is the main communication method for lesson times, changes, reminders, and quick questions.

Email may also be used for invoices, lesson information, onboarding messages, and important updates.

Please make sure your contact details stay up to date.

If you need to change something about your lesson time, attendance, or payment, please get in touch as early as possible.

Children, Supervision, and Studio Behaviour

Parents are welcome to stay during lessons, especially for younger students or new students.

Parents are responsible for students before and after their scheduled lesson time.

Please make sure students are dropped off and collected on time.

If someone different will be collecting the student, please let me know beforehand.

Students should not be left at the studio outside their scheduled lesson time unless this has been agreed in advance.

Students are expected to treat the teacher, studio, equipment, and other people respectfully.

Lessons may be paused or ended if a student’s behaviour makes the lesson unsafe, disrespectful, or unproductive.

Damage caused by careless, unsafe, or inappropriate use of equipment may need to be repaired or replaced at the family’s expense.

Safety, Illness, and Injuries

Drumming is a physical activity. Students are expected to follow instructions, use equipment safely, and let me know if something feels uncomfortable or painful.

Please let me know about any relevant injuries, medical conditions, sensory needs, or learning needs that may affect the lesson.

Reasonable care is taken during lessons, but students and parents are responsible for communicating any concerns that may affect safe participation.

If a student is sick and you would prefer them not to attend, please let me know as early as possible.

Illness does not change the normal cancellation, reschedule, lesson credit, or payment policy for the student’s lesson type.

Lesson Recordings and AI Note Support

I may record lessons to help create lesson notes, track progress, or remember important details from the lesson.

Recordings may be processed using speech-to-text or AI note-taking tools to help prepare accurate and useful lesson notes.

Recordings are used for lesson-related purposes only.

Recordings are deleted once they have been used for lesson notes or progress tracking.

Recordings are not used publicly for marketing, social media, or website content without parent or student permission.

Students and parents can let me know if they do not want lesson recordings or AI note-taking tools used.

Marketing Communication

From time to time, I may send lesson-related updates, studio news, availability updates, educational content, special offers, or other marketing communication.

This may be sent to current students, past students, parents, or people who have enquired about lessons.

Marketing messages will identify the studio and include a way to unsubscribe or opt out.

You can unsubscribe or ask not to receive marketing communication at any time.

Privacy

Personal information is handled according to the studio’s Privacy Policy.

Student and parent details may be used for lesson booking, communication, invoicing, lesson notes, student progress tracking, and studio communication.

For more details, please see the Privacy Policy.

Changes to Pricing, Lesson Options, or Policies

Pricing, lesson options, and policies may be updated from time to time.

Current students will be given reasonable notice of any important changes that affect their ongoing lessons.

The latest version of the lesson policies will be available on this page.

General Disclaimer

These policies are designed to keep lessons clear, consistent, and fair.
